Become a Rugby Referee

As is usually the case we are always in need of more referees for all grades. Each Saturday on average 68 games of rugby ranging in grades from F grade up to Premier grade are played in the Hawke’s Bay region from Wairoa to Dannevirke. If you are interested or know of someone that may be interested in refereeing or if you've been a running referee in the past, a current or retired player and you’re considering taking up rugby refereeing as either your sport or pastime to put something back into our magnificent game, then please contact the HBRU Referee Manager:

COACHING AND TRAINING
Our training evenings (T&D nights) are held mainly on Mondays from 6pm to 7.30pm. Dates, times and topics can be found on the calander page. Evenings include lectures, tuition, guest speakers and practical sessions. Much of the training is interactive with discussion groups.
Group circuit fitness nights start in late January / early February. These are usually Tuesday and Thursday nights at the HBRU Gym.
T&D and Circuit nights are marked on the calendar page on this website. Please check as times or days and sometimes venues can change due to room bookings. Your attendance at as many of these evenings are more beneficial to your development.

WHAT YOU NEED
All you need is a love for the game, a whistle, and a pair of boots! You will be provided with everything else.
